Fordite, also known as Motor City Agate, is a unique automotive enamel material with an interesting history. The original layered automotive paint slag “rough” was made accidentally, years ago, by the now extinct practice of hand spray-painting multiples of production cars in big automotive factories. As it hardened it cures in various patterns and colors. Today it is harvested from various automobile factories and then heat cured, cut and polished just like other stones! At about 20" in length the color of this cabochon is enhanced by the copper necklace.
